Six Sentence Story: Wave

“What do you mean you won’t be here for the parade?”

“Something came up, and I won’t be able to make it!”

“I mean, Roger sort of resembles Kevin…Maybe he’d be willing to stand in as a substitute Prom King?”

“Hey Roger, can we talk you into riding the Senior float with Allison so we’ll have a complete set of Homecoming royalty?”

They had Roger at “Hey,” but he decided to play coy anyway, “I don’t know the first thing about being a Prom King in a parade.”

“Just smile and wave!”

  1. Growing UP in a little town, the homecoming parade was a HUGE deal. Floats galore and all the queen and court candidates rode on the back of convertibles (mostly Corvettes.) It was such a cool time.

  2. We kind of went in the same direction with this prompt. 🙂

A substitute prom king sound plausible. There must be more to this story.
